There are several scholarship opportunities available for young women studying agriculture or related fields.
KWIA Scholarship
In keeping with the mission to empower women in agriculture through education, involvement and action, the Kentucky Women in Agriculture organization offers a scholarship for women who are full-time students entering their junior year in college through graduate school. Scholarship applicants must demonstrate the degree they are seeking relates to agriculture, demonstrate need and be enrolled as a full-time student.
Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

Scholarship applicants must demonstrate the degree they are seeking relates to agriculture, demonstrate need and be enrolled as a full-time student.
Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a female with residence in Kentucky.
- Entering junior year through graduate school in a Kentucky school or affiliate school (e.g. Auburn or Perdue veterinary schools) with a GPA of 2.5 or above. Must submit college transcript to date.
- Include with the application a statement about applicant’s career goals for working in agriculture and how this scholarship will support her academic pursuits. (500 words or less)
- Prior to release of funds, scholarship recipient must submit tuition invoice and class schedule for the next semester of classes to verify enrollment in university course work.
- Application deadline is June 30.
- The scholarship award will be $1,000 and will be paid to the applicant in one $500 increment each semester. Applicant will be notified by the Kentucky Women in Agriculture organization in writing by July 30, 2018.
- All personal information will be kept confidential. The winner’s name will be posted on the KWIA website by July 30, 2018.
- Applications will be judged on the following criteria:
Desire to work in the field of agriculture - 40 pts.
Financial need - 30 pts.
Academic record - 20 pts.
Extra-curricular activities - 10 pts. - Submit at least two (2) letters of recommendation verifying why applicant fits the criteria listed above.
- Chosen applicant will be asked to submit a photograph and sign a release for publication.
- Chosen applicant will be invited to the KWIA annual meeting to be recognized for her accomplishments

American Agri-Women Helen Whitmore Memorial Convention ScholarshipThis scholarship was named to honor Helen Whitmore, a well-respected rancher and teacher from California. It was initiated in 1993 by a friend and AAW Past President, Mitzi Ayala Perdue. It was established to increase active involvement in AAW and to encourage members to influence their home affiliate members.

American Agri-Women Gail McPherson Fly-In ScholarshipThis scholarship was named to honor Gail McPherson of Pennsylvania. Gail was a founding mother of AAW and a past president of the Foundation. She was proficient in parliamentary procedure, she was chair of the bylaws committee and author of many pertinent resolutions. Gail was instrumental in the creation of the first AAW Fly-In.

American Agr-Women Daughters of American Agriculture ScholarshipDaughters of American Agriculture Scholarship was created to honor the memory of those courageous and adventuresome pioneer women who played such an important role in the founding of this nation and encourage the present generation to continue their education in agricultural pursuits.
These two scholarships are available to any farm, ranch or agribusiness woman or her daughter to pursue accredited courses in agriculture leadership, communications, rural sociology, medicine, or any other courses directly related to agriculture.
