About Us

Kentucky women have been working to make a difference in agriculture for many years. In 1999, the Kentucky Agricultural Women's Leadership Network was established to enhance these efforts. Since that time, the network has grown and evolved. In July 2003, articles of incorporation and bylaws were filed with the Kentucky Secretary of State to launch a new, nonprofit organization – Kentucky Women in Agriculture, Inc.

The mission of the organization is to empower women through education, involvement, and action. The broad goals, as stated in the articles of incorporation, are to:

  • Promote Kentucky women in agriculture.
  • Promote agriculture in Kentucky.
  • Create a cooperative feeling among women in agriculture and strive for good fellowship and integrity of the membership as a whole.
  • Protect the best interest of our members.
  • Communicate with one another and with other consumers to promote agricultural products and services for the benefit of Kentuckians and the world.

The organization has further defined four objectives:

  • To provide and promote educational opportunities that advance the interests and welfare of our members regarding important issues surrounding agriculture.
  • To educate our members on policy, legislative processes and issues that are of concern to agriculture.
  • To serve as a liaison between our members and entities interested in the sustainability of agriculture.
  • To prepare our members for leadership roles in agriculture at the county, state and national level.
