I am so pleased to begin this new adventure of collecting stories authored by women in agriculture!
We are blessed to live the “good life” – seeing a beautiful sunrise as we begin our work and especially
counting the stars overhead (a gift so many in our world never even see) every night.
Between sunup and sundown though we experience life as it is on the farm or ranch- pulling that stubborn baby calf, mending fences, weeding endless rows of vegetables. But ask any true farmer and she will say, “I wouldn’t trade it for anything!” This book will be an uplifting inspiration at the end of a long day. Let it be filled with real stories from real women whose mission it is to serve through crop and livestock production: to feed and clothe the world. I cherish and look forward to each woman’s contribution.
It doesn’t matter if you consider yourself a “writer”, indeed it may be far better just to write the way you talk, the way your heart tells you. Through sharing our stories other women will realize that they are not alone in this journey- through the good times and the not so good. We will draw strength and peace from each other. We will bond and our collective voice will lift us up. Our stress will lessen, our pulse will slow, our spirits will grow, our praise will expand.
Please consider sharing your story with me for possible publication. Each story should be one to three double-spaced pages. Think of your story as a “Chicken Soup for the Women in Ag” type of story. When we have all the stories collected we will go through an editing process and you will have the opportunity to review your edited story before we go to press (well, we don’t have a publisher yet but we will!). Part of the net proceeds will be earmarked for scholarships through the organizations that contribute the selected stories- that way we all invest in the future!
Please share this request with your organization and with women in agriculture that you know anywhere. Each of us has a story that keeps us going. What’s your story?
I hope to have the stories and be in press by August, 2018 so we have the books ready long before Christmas next year and we can market them at conferences and events where ag women
